City continued the recent fine unbeaten run with a 1 v 3 win away at FC Stratford in the Total Motion Midland Football League Cup where the winners will now travel to Highgate United in the next round.
Prior to kick off some fresh faces joined the ranks with Brad Reid, Josh Hesson and Drew Ricketts all putting pen to paper, all three went onto make their City debuts on the night.
City made their usual start letting FC Stratford start the better and taking the lead on 6 minutes when a low drive by James MacMillan beat Sam Gilder who was also making his first start for the Club since his transfer from Bishops Cleeve.
The goal seemed to wake the City players up and on the 15th minute, great work by Josh Hesson got James Baldwin away and free down the right hand side, he had all the time in the world to put over a good cross where new signing, Brad Reid headed home on his City debut.
And that was the score going into the half time break, with the game ended on a level note.
Into the 2nd half and Chris Withington came on for Adam Osbourne at Half Time followed by a further sub on 61 minutes with Joe Bates replacing Josh Hesson.
Moments later and City took the lead, James Baldwin dribbed the ball around in circles before finding Liam Lockett just inside the box (right hand side), he burst into the box before squaring the ball across to Joe Bates who calmly finished to the keepers left hand side.
From there the game opened up and chances missed by both teams until the 92nd minute where Joe Bates picked up the ball on the edge of the box, managed to fall over, get up again before another stumble, stayed calm and pulled the trigger with the ball touching the post on the way in.
City progress to the next round where they face a trip to Highgate United.
