Worcester City started off the 2014/15 Vanarama Conference North Season with a well deserved home point in front of 565 at Aggborough today.
Mick Wright claimed man of the match on his club debut after scoring the City goals, both from close range.
After an even opening exchange with both sides shooting from distance it was Celtic that broke the deadlock. A Jack Truelove well driven long pass pass found Liam Dickenson free in between the flat footed City defence. He calmly took the ball to the edge of the area before firing past Nathan Vaughan making his City debut.
City pressed onto Celtic and within five minutes had drawn level. A Mike Symons shot was charged down by the Celtic defence and the ball fell to George Williams whose shot was deflected by Wayne Thomas to Nick Wright who took a touch before firing home from inside the sic yards box hight into the net.
With half time approaching City were again caught napping. Paul Ennis was given too much space on the right hand side after being put through by Sam Staunton-Turner before calmly finishing.
It was a harsh scoreline on City as they went into the break but it didn't take long into the second half before the scores were level. Another City corner whipped in by Danny Jackman to Ellis Deeney dropped at the feet of Nick Wright who fired home again from close range to make it 2-2.
Both sides created chances but City's best fell on 72 minutes when a Daniel Nti shot bounced off Mike Symons from close range and the ball beat the keeper but agonisingly hit the inside of the post.
Minutes later another City corner was headed inches wide by Daniel Nti.
City pressed for the winner but unable to find another opening and the score ended 2-2.
A bright start for City with many positive performances giving the City Fans much to look forward to in the new Season
