City are still waiting for a first away win of the season after losing 2-0 at Edgeley Park.
Despite a tally of home points which would put City in the play off places, the away points are in stark contrast with just two points from five matches.
The performance was as good as any with plenty of possession but two uncharacteristic defensive first half errors was to cost City dear, but the telling fact is that City have still to score an away goal & with Mike Symons unfit and Tristan Dunkley unavailable, the attacking flair from the Chorley game was apparent.
City started much the brighter side, spreading the ball around well and causing havoc in the County defence but all of the early work was undone when on 16 minutes a throw in from the left was not dealt with and Scott Spencer was able to lose his marker Graham Hutchison before firing past Nathan Vaughan.
Soon after City went close after another good move which saw Hutchison getting on the end of a George Williams cross, then minutes later Daniel Nti forced a save from Danny Hurst.
But all the hard work was again undone with a lapse in concentration on 37 minutes. Jamie Milligan whipped a corner in for Kristian Dennis to head home unchallenged.
Minutes before the break City were awarded a free kick from outside the box which Danny Jackman thundered in only to hit the post & the County defence reacted first as the ball rebounded in the six yards box.
In the second half City Manager Carl Heeley tried to shake things up by bringing on Daniel Udoh and Connor Gudger in place of Nick Wright and Sean Geddes which forced County even deeper who counter attacked on the break.
David McDermott who replaced Connor Gater worked well with Gudger to release George Williams but his shot went the wrong side of the post.
Kristian Dennis forced a diving save from Nathan Vaughan minutes before the end from a free-kick then Daniel Nti went close and was denied by Danny Hurst in the closing stages, who in reality was not tested enough.
City once again face The League leaders on Saturday, this time it will be against newly promoted AFC Fylde.
