City came back twice to earn a point in an entertaining Vanarama Conference North match at Aggborough & nearly took all three points but for an offside flag.
It was City's first Saturday game in over a month and the first time City had scored a goal since Mike Symons scored the winner at Stalybridge Celtic back on 20th December.
Wayne Thomas returned to the starting line up and Danny Jackman took up the left back position with Aaron Brown returning to the Club and going straight into the midfield.
City got off to the worst possible start with Hednesford going ahead in the first attack of the game. Good work down City's right flank ended with Nick Rushton prodding home from close range.
The Pitmen had a further chance before City eventually got going with the first opportunity falling to Connor Gater who shot was charged down by Pitmen shot stopper Dan Crane.
On 27 minutes Mike Symons was pushed over 10 yards outside the Hednesford Box giving City a free Kick. Sean Geddes once again stepped up to score another goal of the season contender curling the ball over the wall to settle in the top left hand corner giving the keeper no chance.
Ten minutes later The Pitmen took the lead for the second time. Nathan Vaughan punched a cross clear for a throw in, which was launched into the box by Ben Bailey only for Aaron Brown and Sean Geddes to clear into the path of Jack Thomas who unleashed a half volley from 25 yards into the top left hand corner past the stranded Vaughan.
Minutes later City had a chance to draw level. Dan Crane came out of his box to clear a long ball forward which Wayne Thomas and Sean Geddes nipped into win and with Geddes dribbling towards the goal followed by Crane, Geddes passed to Connor Gater but his shot was closed down and the ball fizzed over the bar.
The second half saw City push forward for an equaliser but it took until the 70th minute before City drew level. After countless attempts, a 25 yard shot from Ellis Deeney rebounded into the path of Mike Symons who finished from a tight angle.
City had further chances and thought they had scored the winner late on. With just minutes remaining Wayne Thomas pushing forward down the left flank passed inside to Kyle Haynes who lofted a ball into the box, Aaron Brown flicked on into the path of Wayne Thomas who kneed the ball goal bound to be denied by Crane, then acrobatically scissor kicked the rebound into the net. City's joy was short lived as a linesman's flag had gone up on the Brown flick on.
Symons had a further chance saved by Crane but the score ended 2-2.
