City faced bottom placed Hyde in the Vanarama Conference North and came away with all three points after a 4-1 win at Aggborough today.
It might not have been as comfortable as the scoreline suggests but City exploited Hyde mistakes to take the win.
With Kyle Haynes unavailable Shabir Khan came back into the team to left back with Tyler Weir taking the right back position. Anthony Charles came in for the injured Rob Elvins and Michael Taylor started in place of Jay Denny.
Hyde created the first chance of the game on 10 minutes with Luke Giverin's free-kick from the left wing causing a goal mouth scramble but Perry Ng could only shoot straight at Nathan Vaughan.
City's first chance came from a corner with Michael Taylor heading wide then two minutes later was booked for his second late challenge.
Hyde, who always like to play on the floor as much as possible were often contributing their own downfall by needlessly giving the ball away and Michael Taylor was quick to respond to a short pass before forcing a corner on 23 minutes. Sean Geddes whipped the ball in for Mike Symons to head home to make it 1-0 to City.
Hyde didn't drop their heads and both James Burke and Luke Giverin shot wide. Both sides were guilty of giving the ball away and the half time whistle came without any more chances.
The second half saw Hyde storm out of the traps. A great team move two minutes from the re-start saw Connor Hughes cut the ball back from the left wing straight into the path of Pete Boyle who calmly finished to make it 1-1.
Within 10 minutes City restored the lead in tremendous fashion. Hyde played the ball around at the back once too often and Hyde keeper Ed Wilczynski's sliced clearance saw Sean Geddes square to Joao Sousa on the edge of the box, who then cut inside to send an unstoppable drive into the top left corner giving the keeper no chance.
Jamie Smith came on for Shabir Khan on 58 minutes but within a minute Hyde had a chance for an equaliser from a corner, which Perry Ng headed goal bound only for Tyler Weir to head off the line.
Ten minutes later Hyde broke forward again and Connor Hughes was tugged back by Anthony Charles but escaped with a yellow card. From the resulting free kick Luke Giverin smashed the ball against the bar from 25 yards out and Pete Boyle's rebound was turned around the post by Nathan Vaughan.
With City on the back foot the game was sealed on 74 minutes. Another Sean Geddes corner found the head of a City forward, this time it was Daniel Nti who headed home to make it 3-1.
Dean Waldron replaced Sean Geddes as City played the last 15 minutes with three Academy players on the pitch and within two minutes a fourth goal was added. Good work from Jay Denny saw his cross flicked on by Mike Symons into the feet of Daniel Nti who prodded home to add his second.
Hyde still continued to press and a ferocious Connor Hughes free kick dipped narrowly over the bar and the final moment of an action packed second half saw a twisting run by Hyde substitute Adam Thurston end with his shot going wide.
