City paid the price for missing a host of chances and lost for the seventh straight time against local rivals Gloucester City at Aggborough.
Gloucester's early lead from Femi Orenuga’s was cancelled out by a Sean Geddes penalty before Harry Williams scored a 72nd minute winner.
The Tigers took the lead on seven minutes when former City striker Nick Wright set up Orenuga inside the box who calmly slotted past Nathan Vaughan. Gloucester looked as though they would take control after dominating the early exchanges.
City upped the pressure with Daniel Nti's overhead kick going inches over the bar before being set up again by Sean Geddes, this time firing wide. Jacob Rowe then headed wide before making a goal saving block at the other end.
City drew level on 33 minutes. A strike from Sean Geddes was saved by Paul White and Mike Symons gathered the ball going away from goal but was needlessly pulled back by Mike Green to concede a penalty. Geddes' spot kick was driven into the top left corner giving White no chance.
In the second half City had plenty of chances with Mike Symons, Tristian Dunkley, and Jacob Rowe all having great chances to put the home side ahead.
The game was decided in the 72nd minute. Nick Wright’s shot was deflected into the path of Harry Williams and the on-loan Cheltenham striker slid the ball past Vaughan.
Jacob Rowe's header skimmed the bar before Tristian Dunkley fired agonisingly wide in the final minute.
The win for the visitors mean their position in the Vanarama Conference North is safe for the 2015/16 Season.
