Worcester City went into the game stood second in the league facing a Lydney Town side currently second bottom. City started the game in dominant fashion and after nine minutes Jamie Insall ran down the left wing and squared the ball to Elliott Hartley, who opened the scoring for City.
It only took another three minutes for City to get a second with a great run from Liam Lockett, who played the ball across for Kyle Belmonte to slot the ball home. Lydney grew into the game after the first two goals but after a great run from Logan Stoddart, he picked out Elliott Hartley to get his second of the match and kill any momentum Lydney had gathered.
Four minutes later Belmonte played Insall through one-on-one and he unselfishly squared it to Liam Lockett, sending City into half-time 4-0 up.
It took City just ten minutes of the second half to increase their lead with a lovely bit of link up football between Belmonte and Hartley, with Hartley crossing the ball across the box for Belmonte to head home and make it 5-0. Then in the 65th minute substitute Taylor Townsend squared the ball across the box for Jamie Insall to tap in a rebounded effort at goal to secure the three points for City.
Two goals and an assist ensured Elliott Hartley walked away with the Man of The Match Award after an excellent performance. A dominant 6-0 win sent City to the top of the league with four games in hand over their nearest rivals, Corsham Town, who themselves were held to a goalless draw at Fairford Town.
