City were well beaten at home to Hednesford Town in the latest Vanarama National League North Match.
Two goals in each half saw The Pitmen race into a four goal lead before Sean Geddes pulled one back in the 80th minute.
City brought in two new signings and made several changes to Saturdays line up at Brackley Town. New signings, forward Nikolay Todorov, on loan from Nottingham Forest and defender Tom Sharpe, who was formerly with Brackley Town, both started the match. George Nash and Connor Gater also came in with Danny Jackman and Kieran Morris on the bench and a welcome return to the club for Jacob Rowe. A surprise inclusion was Daniel Lloyd-Weston making his debut in goal replacing Nathan Vaughan.
Within 5 minutes, Lloyd-Weston was in the thick of the action, as he was to be for the rest of the game, making an outstanding point blank save from Nathan Modest. Hednesford finished the rebound but the referee had already blown for a free kick.
Within a minute The Pitmen were back on the attack, this time Sean Williams dragging his shot wide.
On 15 minutes, City were awarded a free kick 35 yards out. Sean Geddes' goal bound effort nearly caught out the Hednesford keeper Dave Parton but he managed to claw back his ground to tip the ball over for a corner.
On 21 minutes, Hednesford took the lead when a long punt forward by Williams saw the City defence and Lloyd-Weston caught in no mans land and Tom Thorley headed the ball into an empty net.
Five minutes later The Pitmen should have extended their lead. Another deep free kick went across the City box and Kyle Perry fired over. Hednesford were now looking like they might score with every attack, Lloyd-Williams making two further excellent saves to deny Modest and Perry in quick succession.
On 38 minutes, The Pitmen finally did add to their tally. Nathan Modest ran unopposed down the wing skipping into the box with his pass evading Rob Elvins and Tom Sharpe into the path of Ahmed Obeng who finished well from a tight angle.
City made two half time changes with Danny Jackman and Jacob Rowe coming on for Connor Gater and George Nash.
Ten minutes into the second half it was 0-3, Sean Williams again running unopposed before an excellent curling finish in off the post from outside the box.
If there was any doubt that the game wasn't already over, Hednesford added a fourth on 64 minutes. A well worked corner saw Tom Thorley receiving a short pass from Tom James before crossing to Ben Bailey who had an easy finish.
Hednesford had several further chances all of which involved the excellent Tom Thorley with City's Keeper exposed on numerous occasions but making several saves to deny a more emphatic score line.
With ten minutes remaining City pulled one back with their best move of the match. Sean Geddes spread the ball wide to Danny Jackman, who played it back into Geddes for an easy finish.
City had a further chance with four minutes to go when a well worked free kick was headed over by Todorov.
The loss puts City into bottom but one in the table & a good riddance to August.
