CITY chalked up a resounding eight-goal victory over Quorn.
It took us a while to get into our stride early on, but once we did our visitors simply had no answer as we tore them apart.
The opening goal came on 25 minutes when a cross from the left by Mark Danks found its way into the net. There may have been an element of good fortune about it, but we soon doubled our advantage when Jamie Smith’s cross found Josh Sarmento who guided the ball home.
Another teasing ball into the danger zone by Smith caused problems for the ‘keeper who managed to parry the ball into the path of Danks who was alert to grab his second goal of the game.
It was then Danks who turned provider as the interval approached when his showed skill on the right before picking out Dave Reynolds at the far post and he had the simple task of heading home from close range.
We were well in control going into the second period and a fifth goal eventually arrived when substitute, Kyonn Evans played in James Baldwin whose low strike gave the ‘keeper no chance.
The sixth goal saw Lee Hughes find room to lift the ball over the advancing ‘keeper and whilst the visitors went on to create a couple of decent openings, which they failed to take advantage of, City were ruthless and Brad Birch made it 7-0 from close range with five minutes left on the clock.
The scoring was complete late on when Baldwin pulled the ball back into the path of Evans who fired home beyond the reach of Thacker in the visitors’ goal.
It gave City an emphatic 8-0 victory to move us up into second-place in the table as we returned to winning ways in no uncertain terms.
