City came away from North Wales with a point but were denied by the post to seal the win.
Richard Taundry came into the side to make his debut and made an instant impact, controlling the midfield with Tom Thorley for a large percentage of the game. City's other two recent signings Exodus Geohaghon and Nathan Rooney were also instrumental in securing the point.
Nathan Rooney came close for City on two occasions, but it was the second that came closest. In the 46th minute City were awarded a free kick after Danny Glover was bundled over from 40 yards out. The stunning shot went like a rocket, dipping and swerving to strike the upright with the keeper thinking it was going wide.
George Williams was replaced by Josh Smith on 70 minutes after suffering an ankle injury, who immediately slotted in as if he had been there all season.
Colwyn Bay had their best chance late on. They were awarded a free kick on the right wing in line with the 18 yard box. The ball was whipped in by Mike Leebut Jose Viega tipped over the bar and from the resulting corner City scrambled the ball away.
For all of City's possession they could not find the break through against a resolute home defence and still await the elusive 1st win of the season.
