Carl Heeley named an unchanged line up as City looked to build on the three points taken away at Histon.
The confidence a much needed win had injected into the Worcester ranks, was immediately evident. Barely a minute was on the clock, when George Williams latched on to a loose ball and connected well, leaving Chris Sanna at full stretch. Daniel Nti was to then come close from the resulting corner, as his glancing header scurried wide.
The elements were somewhat against City as they battled into a head wind. Three minutes in, the fight for points was almost made harder as Jose Veiga’s clearance was closed down, forcing the ever-defiant George Williams to clear the ball off the line.
The early flurry never really materialised, as a combination of blustery conditions and a scrappy pitch, made it hard for both teams to work a meaningful attack.
Jamie Ellison probably should have done better for the Seagulls, as he got in behind the City defence following a throw in near the corner flag. His resulting shot was weak and Veiga gathered comfortably.
The concluding ten minutes of the first half was to bear resemblance to the opening exchanges. City came close twice, as Ellis Deeney's perfectly weighted ball teed up Aaron Brown to head home, Sanna produced a great fingertip save, before Aaron Williams’ header from the rebound, was cleared of the line by Tom Smyth.
Colwyn Bay were then also unlucky not to convert, City struggled to clear as they spent the final few minutes of the half with their backs to the wall. Colwyn Bay clocked up the corners and produced a fine save from Viega as Jonathan Royle drove in a free kick from the edge of the area.
City would go in at half time looking to utilise the conditions they had worked against, to their favour in the second period.
Worcester looked the brighter team after the break and as the noise level rose in Aggborough there was a sense the City supporters could smell blood.
City piled on the pressure and just shy of the 70 minute mark broke the deadlock. Browns well struck free kick was too much for the keeper to hold onto, who spilled the ball into the path of Daniel Nti whose shot rebounded into the net off the defenders.
Shortly after City thought they had doubled their lead, as Browns cross presented an easy header for substitute Ethan Moore to convert. The flag was raised as the linesman judged the ball to have been out of play before Brown had crossed.
With ten minutes left on the clock, City were to double their advantage, Moore’s driving run worked an opening for Aaron Williams who drilled his shot past Sanna, nothing less than City deserved from their second half display.
Colwyn Bay had not had much in reply to Citys dominance, yet the final few minutes were made all the more tense as Graham Hutchinson was adjudged to have handled in the area. Veiga guessed the right way, but Jamie Ellison slotted the ball home from the spot.
The final whistle came to a show of appreciation from the City fans. Worcester recorded consecutive victories for the first time this season.
Following the game Carl Heeley was unsurprisingly pleased with the performance.
“Colwyn Bay are a side in great form, but we have worked hard again today. I felt if we could keep a clean sheet first half working against a strong wind, our physical presence could cause them problems when we had the wind to our benefit. It’s great to see Nti playing well again, he is going to be important for us”
