Speaking ahead of the game City Manager Ashley Vincent said,

"Saturday’s game v’s Pershore Town was a useful exercise for me and all the staff including players, first and foremost for the prime reason behind playing pre season friendlies - and that is getting vital match minutes into players that for the last 6-8 weeks haven’t been in that situation. Then on top of that to look over Trialists that at this time of year will be the case up and down the country everywhere at the level we are at.

On the fitness side of things I knew the game would be difficult as on Thursday evening the players did a fitness session up at Brickfields Park, which was gruelling and we wanted them to then go out and play 45-60 minutes under fatigue as we know this will stand them in good stead going forward into the early games but also deep into the season where we thought last season may have been something to be improved on."

" Whilst we know there are many things to be improved on the football side, pre season has been mapped out carefully and we know there is ability in the dressing room that will come out but first they must have a physical base to work from if we want to play a certain way."

"Saturdays game allowed another great workout for this to be worked on as will all the games in pre season following on from Saturday at Stratford Town on Tuesday evening. I think on top of that in patches considering the facts of trialist playing, integrating new players and working under the strains I’m asking right now, the side played some very good football and created some good chances to foot".

"We wish Pershore Town the very best going forward and congratulate them on a good pre season performance and are thankful to them for the exercise they provided us with hopefully we will look towards them at the end of the season and both sides will have achieved their objectives".

"Now it’s back to concentrating on the hard work ahead of us and would ask the City fans to be patient and allow the boys to prepare in the right way to be ready to give them something to cheer about throughout the long season ahead. I have an honest core of players that are desperate and more than capable of doing this so we will prepare the right way and keep up with the hard work we are in the middle of".

"Pre Season is exactly that, there are no trophies handed out at this time of the year and it will only be after the last game next April/May will we know who did their hard work and deserved to be where they finish as I believe you do so over the course of time, not a couple of weeks or games and that is my message to the players regardless of results; but we want to do things in the right way, which having been in numerous winning and SUCCESSFUL dressing rooms myself at very good levels I feel we are on the right track should the hard work being put in continue".

"I would like to thank all fans from myself, staff and players for your continued support & ‘KEEP THE FAITH’"
