WCFC commits to fight for equality in football

Worcester City FC is proud to announce it has committed to anti-discrimination charity Kick It Out’s Equality Charter, becoming the first football club in the Midland Football League Premier Division and one of the first in Worcestershire to do so.

As a part of the Equality Charter (view here), the football club commits to working towards the eradication of discrimination in football and the promotion of equality, inclusion and diversity.

By becoming an Equality Chartered Club, Worcester City FC will have a closer relationship with Kick It Out’s grassroots, education and reporting teams. In addition, club personnel will have access to take part in educational workshops relating to equality, diversity and discrimination reporting enhancing club practices to build a solid understanding into Worcester City’s DNA.

In tandem with the Equality Charter, the football club will be in discussions with Kick It Out to explore how to further engage with all diversities of the Worcestershire community.

Speaking on the signing of the charter, Football Club Director Luke Cox said “Following a number of incidents over the last year we felt we had a responsibility to not only condemn discrimination but to be more proactive in tackling it and going further to advocate for equality, diversity and inclusion. We intend for the signing the Equality Charter to be merely the first step down the path to contribute to eradicating hate in the game and ensuring everyone feels welcome and safe in football. It’s vital that we all work together towards this common cause”.
