Magnificent Seven

Today’s game was played at Brown Westhead Park on a crisp and sunny September morning.

Q1 – This first quarter was a rather sloppy affair with both sides failing to retain possession and few chances were created. Worcester came the closest to breaking the deadlock with a Tom Griffin headed from a corner which went just over the bar. (0-0)

Q2 – Worcester started to dominate the game and took the lead following a quick throw in from Tom Mills which saw Tristan Webby go clean through and he calmly slotted the ball past the keeper from the edge of the area. A second goal for Worcester followed shortly thereafter after a well taken corner by Ethan Sherwood was fired home on the volley by Tom Mills. A third goal was added shortly before the end of the quarter when Tom Griffin converted well following a goalmouth scramble after another Ethan Sherwood corner. (0-3)

Q3 – Worcester continued to dominate and went close almost directly from the kick-off although Prince Henry was just unable to convert from a tight angle. The only goal of the quarter came again from a corner, this time Jamie Meddows floated the ball into the area and Harry Williams was on hand to place his header past the keeper. (0-4)

Q4 – This quarter was again dominated by Worcester, scoring three further goals. The first was scored by Prince Henry who powered a sublime shot into the top corner following a smart through ball from Jamie Meddows. The second, scored by Joe Palmer came after he volleyed the ball past the onrushing keeper following good work on the edge of the area by Kane Bullock. The final goal of the game came after a mazy run by Prince Henry who beat a couple of players and then slid a perfect through ball to Jamie Meddows who powered a shot which was too hot for the keeper to handle. (0-7)

After the first quarter, a great performance today from the whole team. The defence were particularly strong and dominated the Kidderminster forward line, although both of our keepers made good saves to ensure a clean sheet.

AWARDS :

Gold : Tristan Webby – An excellent performance in the No.10 role, full of running and joined up play well.

Silver : Zach Bowater – Dominated at the heart of the defence, used the ball well and bought the ball out of defence in an assured manner.

Bronze : Jamie Meddows – Excellent wing play in the final third of the pitch, 2 assists and a well taken goal.
