First Round of the Cup!

Today we made the long trip to Odd Down Sports Ground in Bath for the first round of the Cup. We arrived in torrential rain but by the time of the kick off, the clouds had cleared and the sun was shining.

Q1 – Worcester started the game at a great pace and were almost immediately one up after a Tristan Webby cross was turned into his own net by an unfortunate Bath defender. Few chances were created in the quarter with the game largely played out in the middle of the park. On the balance of play, Worcester just about deserved their lead. (0-1)

Q2 – Bath battled their way back into the game and enjoyed some decent spells in this quarter although were unable to capitalise on their possession. Slightly against the run of play, Worcester added a second goal when an Ethan Sherwood free kick was spilled by the keeper and Kane Bullock was on hand to knock home the rebound from close range. (0-2)

Q3 – Worcester enjoyed by far their best spell of the game in this quarter and played some of the best football so far this season. The ball was being confidently retained by Worcester, although completely against the run of play, Bath pulled a goal back after an excellent solo effort from their winger. (1-2)

Q4 – The final quarter saw Worcester completely in control. Further goals were added by Prince Henry following a strong run into the box by Joe Palmer and Prince was on hand to finish at close range. Prince got his second of the day and Worcester's fourth after good work from Jacob Titheridge on the wing, who played the ball into Tristan Webby. Tristan laid the ball off to Prince, who beat the keeper with a strong shot into the right hand corner of the goal. (1-4)

Today was a really good overall performance from the boys against a strong Bath side and we fully deserved to book our place in the next round of the cup draw.

AWARDS :
Gold : Tristan Webby – Excellent link up play and two assists.
Silver : Harry Williams – Strong both vocally and in the tackle.
Bronze : Harvey James – Protected the defence well and was always involved.
