Nerf JLP Cup - Quarter Final

Today Worcester were at home (in Pershore) for the quarter-final of the Nerf JPL Cup, on a cold but sunny January morning.

1st half – In the initial stages the game was fairly evenly contested with both sides going close. Worcester hit the bar from a corner and also missed a penalty and Bournemouth had a couple of good opportunities themselves. As the half wore on, Worcester increasingly looked the more likely to score and indeed the first goal came from a long pass by Tristan Webby which Joe Palmer latched onto and went round the keeper before slotting into an open goal. Worcester added a second just before the half time whistle after good work from Finn Syson. Finn found Prince Henry on the edge of the six yard box and Prince placed a low hard shot under the keeper. (2-0)

2nd half – The second half started with Worcester in the ascendancy and a third goal was scored after a through ball was flicked on by Tristan Webby and Joe Palmer placed an angled drive into the far corner past the despairing keeper. Almost straight from the kick off Worcester were 4-0 up when for the second time in the game Finn Syson was up-ended and a penalty was awarded. Kane Bullock despatched the spot kick to the goal keepers right. Slightly against the run of play Bournemouth pulled a goal back from a superbly executed free kick which went into the top corner of the Worcester net.

Despite Bournemouth’s renewed endeavour, this merely spurred Worcester on and four further goals were added to the scoreline by the home side. The first was scored by Prince Henry after he had been played in by Kane Bullock. Prince was again the scorer of Worcesters sixth, following a fine through ball from Jacob Titheridge and Prince then got his fourth of the game with Kane Bullock the provider. Joe Palmer completed his hattrick with a shot from the edge of the area. (8-1)

This was a strong performance by the homeside, who dominated for large periods in the game, but credit to Bournemouth who battled well and didn’t let their heads drop and continued to play good football.
