Worcester score 9!

Today we welcomed Gloucester City for a very wet and extremely cold game of football!

Q1 – Worcester started brightly and took the lead from an Ethan Sherwood corner which was headed in by Tristan Webby at the front post. Worcester soon found themselves 2-0 up when Joe Palmer had an effort which was initially saved by the keeper and he calmly put the rebound into the empty net. The homeside now tasted blood, and Tristan Webby added a third after a clever through ball was initially played to Joe Palmer. Joe squared the ball for Tristan to tap in from close range. A fourth goal was added shortly after when a long ball from Zach Bowater found Olly Berry who placed a pinpoint cross to the back post and Tristan Webby beat the keeper with a well placed header. 4-0

Q2 – Gloucester made more of a fist of the second quarter and enjoyed more of the possession although a fifth goal followed for the homeside when the Gloucester keeper spilled a Prince Henry shot and Joe Palmer was on hand to lob the ball over the keeper and into the net. Shortly before the end of the second quarter, Tom Griffin got in on the action, latching on to a loose ball in the penalty area and he rolled the ball into the empty net. 6-0

Q3 – Again this was a more even affair although the homeside rarely looked troubled and a seventh goal was added by Prince Henry. This was a fine solo effort which saw a hard low shot beat the keeper to his left hand side. Tom Mills added an eighth for Worcester with a pinpoint lob over the keepers head into the corner of the net. 8-0

Q4 – In the last quarter, Gloucester went close to reducing the deficit but they found George Bourne in fine form who tipped a shot onto the bar from close range. The final goal of the game was scored by Tristan Webby after a Tom Mills lay off was well despatched past the keeper from the edge of the area. 9-0

This was a hard fought encounter in difficult conditions, we wish Gloucester the best of luck for the rest of the season.
