Analysis
The City team faced another of the league front runners in this mid-week fixture, brought about because of a fixture backlog due to weather postponed games over the last few months. The City team had a fantastic first half, going toe to toe with a strong Cookley side and there was little between the teams. Admittedly, City were doing more of the defending but they were doing this brilliantly. Initially, Cookley took the lead in the match midway into the half but just before half time, some great battling from the City boys took us into the break level at 1-1. The move for the City goal started on the left wing when Adi Dudzinska crossed the ball from the edge of Cookley penalty area, the Cookley keeper came off his line and palmed the ball away from the goal. Arlo Cocklin reacted quickest and challenged for the ball with a Cookley defender, Arlo shot at goal but again the keeper got a hand to the ball but couldn’t keep hold of it. The second rebound fell to Joel Evans a few yards out and he flicked the ball into the net as the keeper attempted to recover. The City team had to defend again in the second half and until 10 minutes in they kept Cookley at bay, however Cookley’s second goal heralded a cricket like collapse in the City defending and they went on to score another seven goals before the final whistle.

All the City players put in great performances in the game but the player-of-the-match was jointly awarded to Jenson Rimell & Ewan Casey.

Thanks to all the Worcester City parents for their support on match day.
