Analysis
The City team faced the current league leaders and it was easy to see why they were holding this spot by the end of the game. The City team were slow to come out of the blocks and found themselves two goals down within the first 5 minutes of the match. Despite this, the team rallied and brought the game level at 2-2 with two goals from Fraser Campbell midway into the half. Frasers first was assisted from a cross by Arlo Cocklin which Fraser then dinked over the Ravens keeper at close quarters in the penalty area. Frasers second came as a result of Arlo Cocklin winning a free kick centrally and just outside the D of the penalty area, Frasers resultant free kick flew just under the cross bar into the top right corner of the Ravens goal with the Ravens keeper scrambling to get his hand to it. A free kick worthy of a Match of the Day highlight reel! The Ravens team went on to score another two goals in the first half and could have scored another 4 or 5 if it wasn’t for some great diving saves from the City keeper Tom Fletcher. The Ravens had a strong wind at their backs in the second half and the City team had to defend with their lives to keep the Ravens at bay for long periods, but they did this to great effect with some fantastic short range blocks from Harry James and some last ditched tackles from Patryk Slaba, Jenson Rimell & Joel Evans. Despite this the Ravens converted a penalty kick midway into the second half before grabbing another four goals in the last 10 minutes as the City team started to crumble under the constant pressure.
All the City players put in great performances in the game but the player-of-the-match was awarded to Arlo Cocklin.
Thanks to all the Worcester City parents for their support on match day.
