Match Report by Chris Wilds

U11 Colts were unluckly to come away empty-handed in a keenly-fought encounter at Malvern Vale. Looking to build on their positive result against Typhoons the previous week, they had slightly the better of the first half but saw an astonishing volleyed goal from near the halfway line prove the difference between the two teams at half time. Tom, returning to the starting line up had a solid first half, and Dylan and Reggie in defence also looked comfortable. Cam was forced into the odd smart save but that aside, (and on a small pitch), most of the action was played out in the middle third with neither team able to secure a decisive advantage; Colts had more chances but were unable to make any count, with George hitting the woodwork and the Spartak keeper producing some fine saves. Colts levelled midway through the second period when Louis latched onto a through-ball and poked past the Spartak keeper to level things up which was no more than they deserved. The keeper again pushed lovely looping volley from George onto the crossbar and tipped another onto the post in a pulsating finale before the unfortunate Dyl deflected past Zac into an empty net. Nathan and Ewan both had good games in the second half, and although there was plenty of endeavour from Harry, Caleb and Josh and plenty of running from Dyl (plus a bash on the nose for poor Reggie who then spent 10 minutes nursing a dripping nose!) Colts were unable to find a second goal which their performance merited.
