WCFC continues efforts to address discrimination in football

As a part of Worcester City FC’s commitment to being a Kick It Out Equality Chartered Club, last week, the Football Club Board of Directors took part in a workshop session by Kick It Out.

Kick It Out is English football’s equality and inclusion organisation. Working throughout the football, educational and community sectors to challenge discrimination, encourage inclusive practices and campaign for positive change.

During the session hosted by Kick It Out, the Board learnt about the most common forms of discrimination in football, how to properly report incidents and how to support any victims of discrimination amongst other pertinent subjects.

Following the workshop, Director Luke Cox said “We all found the workshop hugely helpful and informative, we are all committed to making sure we do what we can to challenge all forms of discrimination in football and our community. Football has a unique power to change society and address social issues, so we need to make sure we live up to our responsibility to do so. During the workshop, we as a board discussed that we want to ensure our status as a Kick It Out Chartered Club isn’t merely declarative, and that we live up to the standards they have set. They have helped us identify a number of measures that we can take to do this.”

Worcester City Football Club would like to sincerely thank Kick It Out for their time and guidance, and look forward to working with them in the future.
